Buffon against Acerbi: "He's not saying no to Spalletti but to Italy"

" A footballer doesn't say no to Spalletti, he says no to something even bigger, which is Italy . In the end, figures like me and the coach, like the coaches and managers who came before, we are here, but we are fleeting. For a period of our lives we have the honour of being able to represent Italy, but what is essential is the unique value of the blue shirt, being able to represent our movement". This is what the head of the national delegation, Gigi Buffon , said to RaiSport, regarding Francesco Acerbi 's decision not to respond to Luciano Spalletti's call-up for the matches against Norway and Moldova. A decision communicated after Inter's defeat in the Champions League final.

"It happened to me and many of my teammates in inglorious finals with Juventus. Inevitably, morale couldn't have been sky-high, but there was another job to do and finish and so we had to make ourselves available , also to try to end the season with a little smile ," adds Buffon.
